Today is Blog Action Day, an annual event that happens every October 15. Blog Action Day unites bloggers all over the world to blog about a vital issue that the entire global population faces together. This year’s theme is climate change.
Powered by Change.org, Blog Action Day is a chance for every blogger to reach millions of viewers and be heard. The goal is to get people talking, interacting, and sharing information for an important discussion. From commentary to opportunities to take action, news coverage to letters to leaders, there is something that everyone in every blog genre can cover.
Blog Action Day’s website states that by focusing on one topic for the day, all over the globe, “the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue.” Whether your blog is about video games, air travel, politics, or a simple online diary, you can still cover this issue and relate it to your own blog.
And hundreds of people are already taking part. From private citizens to prominent leaders to major organizations—from UK Foreign Minister David Miliband to Mother Jones magazine to Oxfam America—hundreds of blogs have already been written and are being shared right now. Can you add yours?
